The second Global City Forum, the international urban management summit, will take place in Lyon’s Congress Centre. Drawing together the world’s leading cities and experts, the event focuses on the exchange of best practice and concrete solutions to make our cities more sustainable. Organised with the partnership of the OECD, Global City is expected to attract 1000 urban decision-makers from over 200 cities and 35 countries, including 100 Mayors and City Leaders.

The Global Forum on Governance brought together over 200 participants from all over the world to discuss methods, conditions and approaches to preventing, detecting and sanctioning corruption in public procurement. The Forum addressed challenges and solutions to aspects of public procurement relating to integrity and good governance initiatives as well as to OECD anti-bribery instruments.

Facilitating international dialogue and disseminating best practice are important aspects of our work. International Conference on Knowledge-based Regional Development and Innovation, Florence (Italy), 25-26 November 2004

The OECD, the Regione Toscana, Italy and the ERIK network (European Regions Knowledge based innovation Network, are jointly organising an international meeting in Florence (Italy) on 25/26 November 2004. The meeting will address innovation and knowledge based regional development issues.
The conference will target an audience of national and regional policy makers, practionners and experts. Participants will take stock of experiences in Member countries, contributing to diffuse assessment results and facilitating the sharing of best practices in innovation policies.

The 8th Session of the TDPC Working Party on Territorial Indicators was kindly hosted by the National Statistical Office of Portugal and took place at the Instituto Nacional de Estatística (INE) in Lisbon, Portugal. This session took the form of a workshop and delegates were invited to present papers on Patterns and Trends in Regional Competitiveness based on the data from the OECD Territorial Database.

The Forum, held in Prague, Czech Republic, brought together senior public officials and key civil society actors from eight non-member countries participating in the Stability Pact Anti-Corruption Initiative (SPAI), and representatives of the Czech Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Turkey and the United States.
The Forum reviewed progress made by SPAI countries in developing and implementing conflict-of-interest policies in government and the public sector. Participants identified suitable strategies for improving the control of conflict-of-interest situations and endorsed the OECD Guidelines for Managing Conflict of Interest and the OECD Conflict of Interest Toolkit.
