The 2008 OECD Regional Forum on Trade Facilitation was organised by the OECD Secretariat and the South Africa Revenue Service, with the financial support of the European Union. It spurred constructive dialogue between key stakeholders involved in trade facilitation in Eastern and Southern Africa (e.g., trade negotiators, customs officials, private sector representatives and donors), to advance the WTO negotiations on trade facilitation.

The main objective of the Workshop, held in Washington D.C., 19-21 March 2007, was to get a good idea as to which indicators and elements in the agri-environmental policy inventory are valued and used by policy makers, and to chart out a practical way forward to implement in a concrete way this work area in the OECD so that it is relevant to Member countries.

The OECD Trade Directorate has organised a Global Forum on Trade in partnership with the World Bank, and with the support of the Government of Mexico. This Forum considered market access across various development dimensions including global (MFN) liberalisation, North-South trade and South-South trade, trade in services, and regional trade liberalisation (as a complement to multilateral liberalisation). The OECD Development Co-operation and Trade Directorates, in collaboration with the Government of Cameroon, are organising a Regional Forum which will take place in Yaoundé, Cameroon, on 27-28 September 2006. The Forum will discuss how to identify countries' trade facilitation needs and priorities and the cost implications of possible measuresand to ensure that technical assistance and capacity building for trade facilitation is effective, operational and coherent.
