France, represented by Christine Lagarde, Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, will chair the meeting, with Mexico and Switzerland as Vice-Chairs.

The Forum will discuss how to identify countries' trade facilitation needs and priorities and the cost implications of possible measuresand to ensure that technical assistance and capacity building for trade facilitation is effective, operational and coherent.

The OECD Global Forum on Trade and Competition was held in Paris on 10th February 2006. This one-day event addressed developing country concerns about trade and competition. Participantsdiscussed, among other things, case studies on competition, competitiveness and development as well as research on competition provisions in regional trade agreements and their implementation.

Workshop on enhancing competitiveness in the agro-food sector: making policies work

The primary purpose of the Workshop was to examine factors that underpin competitiveness along the agro-food supply chain in the Baltic countries, drawing on the experiences of OECD countries. The Workshop focused on competitiveness at the national level and, in particular, the role of public policies in enhancing and sustaining competitiveness in the supply chain.

Examination of Ukraine's agricultural policies

Ukrainian agricultural policies were discussed at a peer examination by the members of the Committee for Agriculture. The discussion was based on the report "Achieving Ukraine's Agricultural Potential: Stimulating Agricultural Growth and Improving Rural Life" prepared jointly by the World Bank and OECD in co-operation with Ukrainian and international experts. The report was published in English and Ukrainian in September 2004.
