Such questions are tackled by OECD and the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organisation in their latest joint study to be presented at a news conference at 1.00 p.m. on Thursday 29 May 2008 at OECD headquarters in Paris. The news conference will be presented by Angel Gurría, Secretary-General of OECD, and Jacques Diouf, Director-General of the FAO.

The 2008 OECD Regional Forum on Trade Facilitation was organised by the OECD Secretariat and the South Africa Revenue Service, with the financial support of the European Union. It spurred constructive dialogue between key stakeholders involved in trade facilitation in Eastern and Southern Africa (e.g., trade negotiators, customs officials, private sector representatives and donors), to advance the WTO negotiations on trade facilitation.

France, represented by Christine Lagarde, Minister for the Economy, Industry and Employment, will chair the meeting, with Mexico and Switzerland as Vice-Chairs.
