This conference, organised by the International Security Management and Crime Prevention Institute, in co-operation with PEB, explored the theme Challenges in Security: Understanding and Effectively Managing Security Related Risks. Delegates from schools, colleges and universities from around the world met in Adelaide, Australia, to share initiatives, discuss challenges and develop new strategies to better understand security related risks in educational settings. An international conference on designing spaces for early-childhood education will take place in Edinburgh, United Kingdom. The event is organised by Children in Scotland with the support of the OECD Programme on Educational Building (PEB), The Royal Incorporation of Architects in Scotland and Children in Europe. An exhibition of entries from 17 countries to the 2005 international award for architecture and design for young children will be on display. An OECD High Level Parliamentary Seminar on education will take place at OECD headquarters in Paris on Wednesday 23 February 2005, featuring the latest results from the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA), an internationally standardised assessment jointly developed by participating countries and administered to 15-year-olds. Other pertinent work of the OECD in the area of education such as the internationalisation of higher education and the quality of the teaching profession will be presented to Parliamentarians.
